Brief descriptionAs a "city slab in a sea of meadows", the new urban quarter corresponds in many ways with the surrounding settlement structures. At the same time, it forms a very unique character: in its inner structure as well as in its silhouette, it reflects its location on the expanse of the old airfield. Three distinctive "notches" structure the quarter and interlock it with its surroundings. For a CO2-neutral energy supply, the construction of a cold local heating network within the area is proposed. This will be fed via a heat exchanger for extracting waste heat from the central wastewater canal crossing the area. The desired temperature level is provided in the buildings by decentralized heat pumps. The electricity required to drive the heat pumps as well as the building-related useful electricity will be generated via photovoltaics on the roofs of the buildings.
